Motorola has announced the Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus smartphones. The two new handsets come along with better cameras, bigger displays as well as more powerful processors than their predecessors.

The tech company added the special edition smartphones to its G5 line, both of which supposedly comes with several upgrades on their predecessors. For instance, according to Android Central, the Moto G5S has a 3000mAh battery with TurboPower charging and an all-metal unibody design. On the camera front, the mobile device comes with a 16MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus, while its wide-angle front camera boasts a 5MP and an LED flash.

The Moto G5S also features a 5.2-inch Full HD 1080p display, a fingerprint sensor, and a 1.4GHz octa-core CPU. Whereas, its predecessor, the Moto G5, has a 5-inch Full HD display, 13MP rear camera, 5MP wide-angle front camera, a 2800mah battery and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 processor.

Plus variant’s improved design

Meanwhile, the Moto G5S Plus is a bigger version of its predecessor, the Moto G5 Plus smartphone. Even though the new Plus variant keeps the current G5 lineup’s metal body, but it has an improved unibody anodized aluminum design. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 processor and Adreno 506 GPU. The smartphone is equipped with 3.5mm headphone port, Micro-USB charging, and a 3000mAh battery.

Its fingerprint reader is located under the display but comes along with a gesture support for navigating the handset.

Nevertheless, most of the other specs of the Moto G5S Plus are improved. The device has a 5.5-inch display with 1080p resolution. The smartphone is equipped with a 3GB of RAM and a 32GB built-in storage. On the camera front, the mobile device will be available with a dual camera setup, a 13MP lens (with a portrait mode) and an 8MP wide-angle lens.

The wide-angle front camera has an 8MP f/2.0.

Release date and price of the smartphones

As reported by Android Police, the Moto G5S Plus will run Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. The mobile device should work on both GSM as well as CDMA networks, and the smartphone will have an LTE compatibility for AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, and T-Mobile.

The Verge reported that Motorola’s two new smartphones will be available in Europe later this month and in the United States this fall. The G5S and G5S Plus smartphones will retail for €249 and €299 ($294 and $353), respectively.
