Google has remained mum about its highly anticipated Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones. However, the search engine giant is expected to officially announce its next-gen Pixel devices in the next few weeks after Apple will launch it's iPhone 8.

According to Value Walk, LG will manufacture the Google Pixel 2 XL, which means the Pixel 2 XL model will likely arrive with LG smartphones’ design elements. Wherein, the LG G6 was launched with a bezel-less display, which is expected to be featured in the larger Pixel variant.

However, Financial Express pointed out that the larger Pixel model won’t be the only mobile device to feature a bezel-less display.

Samsung devices, the Galaxy S8, S8 Plus and the Galaxy Note 8, all have Infinity Displays with no bezels. Aside from that, the upcoming Apple iPhone 8 and Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will be available with no bezels.

Meanwhile, the smaller model will be manufactured by HTC. This handset will arrive with a larger bezel. Based on the company’s Federal Communications Commission filing, the mobile device will feature squeezable sides, just like the HTC U11 smartphone.

The smaller variant will feature a 5-inch OLED screen with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The larger model, on the other hand, will sport a 5.99-inch OLED display.

Devices with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 836 processor

Smartphone enthusiasts can expect the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones to arrive with a better and faster performance. The 2017 Pixel handsets will boast Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 836 system on chip (SoC), which is the manufacturer’s most powerful chipset to date.

The possible differences between the next-gen Pixel smartphones are the RAM capacity as well as the dual camera system.

The larger variant will likely boast the dual camera setup, while the smaller model will feature a regular camera. The larger model is more likely to arrive with a larger RAM capacity. However, the smaller model will be dubbed as the Walleye, while the larger device will be called the Taimen.

The lack of the 3.5mm headphone jack will be the captivating similarity of the 2017 Pixel smartphones.

This move of the company will pave way for Google Assistant’s wireless headphones.

Release date of the smartphones

Nevertheless, Google is expected to officially announce the next-gen Pixel smartphones on October 5. Aside from the handsets, the company is also expected to launch its new Chromebook and the Google Home mini.
