Android co-founder, Andy Rubin’s initiative led to the inception of the Essential PH-1 smartphone. The Device is recognized as being one of the top contenders in the smartphone sector, thanks to its high-end specs. The phone is expected to begin shipping next week in the U.S. and pre-orders for it have already begun on Sprint, Best Buy, and Amazon. The smartphone costs around $600, and comes featuring a bezel-less display with a modular smartphone look.

Display of the phone

The device is rumored to feature a 5.71-inch, edge-to-edge (bezel-less) display with 2,560 x a 1,312-pixel resolution.

This is further accompanied with a cut-out on the top-hand corner on the front panel for the camera and a small silver lining on the bottom as well. The company describes the device’s display as “Full Display,” which carries an aspect ratio of 19:10.

Design, features, and specs

The device will have a unique design. The smartphone is built using a combination of ceramic and titanium and the company states that they made use of these materials with the objective of making their smartphone sturdier. In comparison to aluminium, the ceramic/titanium mix is less likely to incur scratches or damage from being dropped, thus ensuring its durability. Essential is speculated to introduce two color variants, namely ‘Black Moon,’ and ‘Pure White’ at first.

Following this, the company will launch the ‘Stellar Grey’ and ‘Ocean Depths’ color variants. There won’t be any official company logo, and the fingerprint scanner will be placed on the rear panel.

The Essential PH-1 smartphone is rumored to sport a dual rear camera setup with two 13-megapixel rear sensors tagged along with f/1.85 aperture.

According to a report by TechRadar, the smartphone’s dual camera setup is the thinnest one yet. The device further sports an 8-megapixel front shooter. Both, the front and rear cameras extend support for 4K video content streaming.

The smartphone will reportedly house a 3,040mAh battery with Android’s Nougat 7.1.1 OS. The company is expected to deploy the Android O update as soon as it is made available.

The device will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip. On the storage front, the device will offer 4GB of RAM along with 128GB of ROM. There might also be a dedicated Artificial Intelligence digital assistant that will come along with the device. Stay tuned for more news, rumors and updates on technology.
