Google finally launched the Android 8.0 Oreo operating system. The latest operating system comes along with new system improvements, new methods for battery issue as well as new features.

The Android 8.0 Oreo will be available to eligible smartphones soon. While most Android smartphone users can expect the typical wait to acquire the latest operating system, Nexus and Pixel device users will receive the update sooner rather than later. The operating system’s Android Open Source Project is anticipated to arrive to Google devices, such as Nexus Player, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Pixel C, Pixel and Pixel XL.

The final build of Android’s latest version will also roll out to smartphones registered to Android Beta Program. ARS Technica reported that Android smartphone owners who can’t wait for the over-the-air (OTA) update can head to the Android’s Developer website.

Android 8.0 to third-party OEM devices

The Android Oreo update will later roll out to owners of third-party Android OEM, such as Sony, LG, and Samsung. Factors affecting the Oreo update to these Original Equipment Manufacturers include integration of custom user interface (UI) as well as the implementation of brand apps and services. Nonetheless, Motorola device owners may not have to wait that long to acquire the operating system’s final build.

Meanwhile, HMD Global (which owns Nokia) made it known that its Nokia 3, 5 and 6, will be updated to the latest Android version. According to India Today, the Finnish tech giant has also confirmed that the Android 8.0 update will roll out to the newly released Nokia 8 smartphone.

The Oneplus company also confirmed that its OnePlus 5, OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T handsets, will be updated to Oreo.

The OnePlus 5 flagship smartphone is expected to receive the update in another two months. The OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T are expected to run on Android 8.0 by the end of the year.

Other smartphones expected to be updated to Oreo include HTC U11, HTC U Ultra, HTC U Play, ZenFone 4 series of smartphones, Samsung's Galaxy family, Sony's Xperia lineup, LG G5, LG G6, LG Q6 and LG V20.
