When talking about hybrids, the first product most would think of is Microsoft's Surface Pro. Microsoft's puppy is the powerful beast that targets professionals who are always on the go. It is a mix of good things specs wise and features wise. The Surface Pro is mighty enough that it accumulated a handful of contenders. Acer's Switch 7 Black Edition might be the one that will stomp the Surface Pro down.

Acer's new 'laptop'

Switch 7 is the successor of Switch 5, Acer's failed attempt to dethrone the Surface Pro. Learning from their mistakes, The Switch 7 fixed its past mistakes and improved the whole product.

Like the Surface Pro, it is a 2-in-1 device with a detachable keyboard. The screen is a 13.5 inch IPS touch screen that uses Wacom ERM digitizer with 4,096 levels of Pen pressure sensitivity.

Switch 7 will also have its new take in Windows Hello. Instead of hitting the power button to use the Windows Biometrics, you can hit the power button and activate the biometric support at the same time.

A small improvement, but will be helpful in the long run.

It also features a stand that will automatically retract when you put enough pressure on the top of the device. This model is good if you don't want to carry another separate stand.

The biggest bomb for Surface Pro

But the biggest improvement the Switch could offer is the Nvidia GeForce MX150. It also packs Intel's 8th generation Core i7 CPU in the slender frame. Specs-wise, you can expect that this device will be snappy and will run at top speed.

It is also a good move that Acer replaced the GeForce 940MX with MX150. The GeForce MX150 is three times more efficient than the old 940MX. You can expect to enjoy graphic extensive applications to run smoothly.

Acer Switch 7 is also expected to be a quad-core puppy. Compare that to dual-core CPU and integrated graphics of Surface Pro, it can clearly outperform Microsoft's puppy.

The only catch

The only catch for this device is a universal reaction that is common in machines: heat. It is a quad-core beast and is prone to overheating. Acer stated that the Switch will feature a fanless LiquidLoop cooling system that will be able to prevent your device from burning.

Will this puppy overthrow Surface Pro in the throne? Acer Switch 7 Black Edition will be available this December for $1699 in the US and €1,999 in Europe. If you want to get your hands dirty with this device, you can still save up before its launch.
