Xiaomi is all set to launch a brand new smartphone on the market. The Chinese company has managed to garner quite a bit of respect for its range of products which are deemed to be quite dependable and well-built. However, the new product in question is not a flagship device from the new company.

The new handset in question is named Xiaomi Mi 5X, and it is a mid-range device which will feature some impressive specs for people who are not looking for a premium device. The launch event for the device will be held on July 26. The event was first introduced through a YouTube video posted by the company.

Xiaomi Mi 5X rumored specs

The handset is expected to boast a Full HD 1080p display, although the screen size itself is not known as of now. However, seeing as how most mid-range devices these days sport a 5.5-inch display, a similar size can be expected this time around as well. The rumors also indicate that the Xiaomi Mi 5X will boast the efficient Snapdragon 625 chipset from Qualcomm.

Some reports have also indicated that the handset will also come in an enhanced variant.

The enhanced version of the device will most likely boast the Snapdragon 660 SoC. The standard model of the handset will sport 4 GB of RAM which is quite justifiable these days, but the enhanced version is expected to carry higher RAM, which indicates that it could come with 6 GB of RAM.

The internal storage variants are also unknown at this point of time.

The Mi 5X will ship with the MIUI 9 and Android 7.1 Nougat. This is one of the features which Xiaomi fans have been waiting for a while now and will finally be excited to receive. The device will boast a standard 3,000mAh battery. Some may feel that the battery is on the lower side when compared to the other features. However, bear in mind that the Android 7.1 operating system will bring some battery-saving capabilities of its own.

The video and images revealed by Xiaomi has also indicated the Mi 5X may be the cheapest smartphone to boast the dual-rear camera setup, which is a trend in today's handsets. The fingerprint sensor is also visible on the back, which is a standard fare for all Xiaomi handsets.

The Mi 5X will at least come in three shades: Black, Pink, and Gold.

Price of the Mi 5X

The higher-tier variant sporting the Snapdragon 660 SoC and 6 GB of RAM will most likely be priced around $295, while the lower-end model with Snapdragon 625 and 4 GB of RAM will boast a price tag of around $220. However, these prices will be better known once the handset launches on July 26.
