Samsung took the market by a storm when it unveiled its Gear S2 smartwatch last year. The South Korean tech giant is said to be working on its successor - to launch later this year. The smartwatch will be directly competing with Apple’s Watch Series 3 as well. Let’s take a look at what buyers can expect from Samsung as far as their smartwatches are concerned.

Device will be improved in every aspect

The South-Korean tech giant is reported by Wearable to be planning on increasing the size of the upcoming Gear S3 smartwatch. They will probably do this by adding a few more features, for example, sensors or even an inbuilt GPS.

While the size of the display is expected to remain the same, Samsung is expected to increase the width of its body. Apart from this, Samsung is expected to integrate the company’s latest Exynos 7 dual 7270 chipsets into its smartwatch this year. The software operating system is especially splendid due to the number of features it carries including 4G LTE modem and a better audio experience.

The rumored curved-edge display

Samsung’s upcoming smartwatches might sport a curved-edge display. The company recently patented a curved-screen technology for wearables. As Samsung has already explored this particular niche in the smartphone market, the possibilities of them doing the same in the smartwatch market are equally high.

If this turns out to be true, then the Samsung Gear S3 will be the first smartwatch of its kind that can rotate, split and even look savvy – all at the same time. However, the above-given information hasn’t been confirmed by Samsung as yet. Therefore, readers are advised to take the information with a grain of salt.

Apart from this, Google introduced the latest Android Wear 2.0 update earlier this year.

It is, therefore, safe to assume that the upcoming Samsung smartwatch will arrive with the latest update as well. As posted by XDA Developers forum, Google is working on porting the latest update to Samsung’s upcoming devices. Samsung also introduced it's Bixby digital voice assistant this year with its Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus smartphones.

It remains to be seen whether the South-Korean tech giant ends up integrating the same in its upcoming Gear S3 smartwatch as well. Samsung is expected to launch the device at the IFA, 2017 event scheduled to take place in Berlin towards the end of September. For more smartwatch news and updates, stay tuned.
