HMD Global-backed nokia took everyone by a pleasant surprised when it made its arrival back in the smartphone market, official. Fans were delighted to learn that Nokia is planning on launching several Android-based smartphones this year. The Finnish tech giant recently took the wraps off its Nokia 6, 5 and 3 smartphones. Now, the company plans on adding to the family by introducing its High-end Nokia 9 flagship smartphone.

The specs of the flagship

If reports are believed to be true, then the company has already begun work on its upcoming Nokia 9 smartphone. The Device – also dubbed as ‘Nokia P1’ – is going to pack high-end specifications and will fall in direct competition with other flagship smartphones in the market including Apple’s iPhone 8 and Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8. As far as the specifications of the smartphone are concerned, the Nokia 9 device is expected to pack a 5.3-inch QHD OLED display and will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 processor along with Adreno 540 GPU. Major flagship devices of 2017 are going to come equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor.

Therefore, it will be quite an interesting fight that will take place between them. On the storage front, the smartphone will either offer 6GB RAM/64GB ROM or 8GB RAM/128GB ROM. As reported by Nokia Power User, the upcoming device is expected to sport a dual rear camera setup with two 13MP sensors with support for Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and 4K-video streaming capabilities.

The device will also come packed with a built-in iris scanner along with a fingerprint sensor that will be located on the back of the device. The smartphone will flaunt an aluminum chassis along with IP68 water-proof capability certification. Moreover, Nokia recently made it official that they have joined hands with Zeiss.

By this, it is safe to assume that the Nokia 9 device will pack Carl Zeiss optics. The smartphone will further house a 3,800mAh battery with support for Quick Charging technology and will run on Android 7.1.2 Nougat OS.

As far as the release date of the upcoming smartphone is concerned, it appears like Nokia is planning on unveiling the device in Q3 of 2017. In other words, the device might meet the audience anywhere towards the end of this month or the beginning of next. The smartphone will probably cost anywhere above $400 – since it falls in the high-end category. Nokia hasn’t offered any official confirmation regarding the same though.
