Apple’s iPhone 8 will clash with competitor Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 as both devices are expected to hit the shelves in late this summer. The premium handsets are estimated to come with impressive features and specs which are said to be revolutionary in the current smartphone market. While Samsung has already managed to find some success this year with its Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, it will still look to end the year on a strong note with the sales of the impending phablet.
Apple, on the other hand, is set to unveil three new handsets in September, including the refurbished iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus along with the highly-anticipated iPhone 8.
This will be the tenth edition of Apple’s iPhone range and is expected to rule the market when it does land in stores. However, it cannot be denied that even though the two devices in question are from competing companies, they bear many features which are similar.
Similarities between the two phones
Apple’s iPhone 8 will be the first handset from the company ever to sport an OLED display with minimal bezel space and an impressive screen to body ratio. Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 will also follow the trend set by the Galaxy S8, to sport an almost bezel-less display. The South Korean company’s premium handsets are known to sport Super AMOLED displays. So, in terms of the display panel itself, both devices could be quite similar to each other, although the dimensions will be different.
The iPhone 8 will sport a vertically aligned dual rear camera setup, where the sensors are said to have improved quite a bit from the last generation of iPhones. The Galaxy Note 8 will also feature two camera lenses on the back, albeit in a horizontal alignment. Another thing in common between the two high-end handsets is the apparent absence of the home button and the subsequent repositioning of the fingerprint sensor.
Differences between the two rivals
The most apparent difference to be noted is the difference in size, as the Galaxy Note 8 features a 6.44-inch display, while the iPhone 8 is rumored to come with a 5.7-inch screen. Internally the impending Apple device is expected to be powered by the A11 chipset and 3 GB of RAM. The Galaxy Note 8, however, will be powered by the Snapdragon 835 SoC and 4 GB or 6GB of RAM.
The iPhone 8 is also said to be equipped with the 3D facial recognition technology, something which Samsung’s device will lack when it does hit markets. The added biometric security through this feature is said to be better than both fingerprint sensors and iris scanning. After their release, fans will come to know which reigned supreme.
