HTC launched the beefed up version of the HTC U11 yesterday in the United States. The higher specs version of the smartphone comes with 128 GB of native storage space and 6 GB of Ram. When the device was originally unveiled, the Taiwan based OEM came up with two iterations of its flagship smartphone – one with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage and the other with 128 GB of native storage and 6 GB RAM. Initially, it looked as if the company would not bring the latter version of the handset to the US. However, on July 25 HTC revealed the bigger U11 in the U.S.
and started offering it for purchase via its own website.
6 GB of RAM variant arrives in the US
The preorder page of HTC U11 with 128 GB internal storage and 6 GB of RAM went live yesterday. According to HTC, the smartphone will be shipped in August, however, this variant of the HTC U11 is available only in silver. One can purchase the unlocked variant of the handset HTC’s website. The unlocked iteration of the smartphone carrying has been priced at $729, which is an additional $80 over the price of the 4 GB model. The unlocked device will work on the networks of AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Alaska Communications, MetroPCS, NET 10, Cricket and many more. Unlike this model, the 4 GB variant of the device comes in four colors namely silver, red, black, and blue.
HTC discounts older smartphone models as well
Apart from the launch of the 6 GB of RAM HTC U11, the Taiwanese OEM has also offered a generous discount on the prices of three of its older smartphones. According to the listing on HTC’s website, the unlocked HTC 10 can be purchased for $399 after receiving a discount of $300 and the Bolt can be bought for $500 getting a discount of $100.
Apart from these two, HTC has also offered the HTC U Ultra at a slashed price. One can now buy the U Ultra for $499 instead of $749 after a rebate of $250 off the original price.
Is anything different on this variant of the flagship?
The flagship smartphone from HTC comes with AI support from Amazon’s Alexa and sports the Edge Sense feature.
The users of the U11 can squeeze the sides of the smartphone to launch specific applications using the Edge Sense feature. The smartphone boasts a 5.5-inch QHD display with 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution and houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. Barring the RAM and color option, the other specs and features of this device remain unchanged. Whether the device will find favor with buyers is anybody's guess!
