Oneplus has officially released the premium flagship OnePlus 5 with Snapdragon 835 processor and 8GB RAM coupled with advanced features. According to the company, the handset is more than just Specifications since it is designed with special emphasis on the design, performance, camera and battery life. During the launch event, OnePlus CEO Carl Pei disclosed that the phone includes special techniques to save battery consumption. Display
OnePlus 5 features a 5.5-inch FHD Optic AMOLED 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protected display with support for sRGB and DCI-P3 color standards. The phone has been designed using anodized aluminum with a thickness of 7.25mm measuring 153 grams weight.
Performance
Powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor, the latest release of OnePlus ships with Adreno 540 graphics. The highlight of the phone is the addition of 8GB RAM alongside 128GB UFS 2.1 internal storage. You can also buy 6GB RAM variant paired with 64GB internal storage.
Camera
The handset features dual-LED camera setup comprising of 16MP Sony IMX398 (f/1.7 aperture) and a 20MP (f/2.6 aperture) Sony IMX350 telephoto lens. On the front, the OnePlus 5 offers a 16MP camera with Sony IMX371 sensor paired with f/2.0 aperture with support for FHD video capturing.
Battery
OnePlus 5 is equipped with a 3300mAh dash charging battery, which is lower than the 3400mAh batter infused with OnePlus 3T.
Advanced features
The OnePlus 5 includes a new feature named App Priority, which automatically detects the commonly used apps and load them on start-up. Moreover, the addition of UFS 2.1 and a 2-lane ROM will boost bandwidth to a large extent.
The OxygenOS has been refreshed with the reading mode, expanded screenshots including a semi-transparent app drawer.
Connectivity
In addition to 4G VoLTE, the OnePlus 5 provides support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, A-GPS and USB Type-C port. The handset also provides support for standard sensors such as an accelerometer, ambient light, proximity, and gyroscope.
OnePlus has retained the traditional headphone port and the design is almost similar to that of the iPhone 7 Plus.
Pricing
The OnePlus 5 is available in Slate Gray (64GB) and Midnight Black (128GB) color variants. While the 64GB model is priced at USD 479, the 128GB storage phone is priced at a slightly higher USD 499.
Even though you can pre-order OnePlus 5 in select markets, the company will ship the device on July 27. The company is gearing up to launch OnePlus 5 in India on June 22.
