Samsung is expected to launch the successor of Galaxy Note 7 – the Galaxy Note 8 – in the second half of 2017. However, rumors of the upcoming phablet have been doing the rounds for several months. The company is expected to be very cautious with the next-gen phone, especially after the Galaxy Note 7 was recalled globally due to battery issues.
Infinity Display for the next-gen phablet?
The South Korean company launched the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ in March this year. Both the smartphones have minimal bezels and are curved from the sides. Samsung calls this new display Infinity Display, which offers expanded screen size.
With the Infinity Display a large phone like the new Samsung flagships seem smaller in the hands.
Devices in the Galaxy Note series sport top-end features and the next-gen phone will definately come with top-notch specs. Latest rumors indicate that the next phablet from Samsung will boast the Infinity Display. It makes sense for Samsung to use its best specs in the next phablet, especially after the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco.
Android 7.1 Nougat for Samsung's next phone
Customers will hope that the next Samsung smartphone would come running on Android O, which could be released sometime in August or September this year. However, speculations claim that the Galaxy Note 8 would be preloaded with Android 7.1 Nougat instead of the new mobile operating system from Google.
This means owners of the new phone will have to wait until an update is confirmed for the device.
Expected specs of the phablet
The Galaxy S8+ comes with a 6.2-inch screen with a display resolution of 2,960 x 1,440 pixels. If rumors are to be believed then the next-gen phablet from Samsung will feature a slightly bigger 6.3-inch screen.
The phone will likely come with Snapdragon 835 chip but it could include 6 GB or RAM. It is worth noting that Samsung has launched its latest flagship with 6 GB of RAM only in China.
The S Pen is an iconic feature of devices in the Galaxy Note family. Samsung made a number of improvements in the S Pen of last year's phone and the company is expected to bring new innovations to future S Pens.
The next phablet from Samsung being a high-end phone is also highly likely to include iris scanner, fingerprint sensor, bigger battery, microSD card support, and more.
Samsung has not officially confirmed its next phablet. Although, fans will enjoy knowing more about the next-gen phablet, they should wait until the company officially reveals more information. Customers will have to wait another few months before Samsung takes the wraps off the highly-anticipated mobile phone.
