Close on the heels of the Galaxy A7 receiving the Android 7.0 Nougat update, another Samsung device will be finally receiving the same. Samsung’s 2017 model of the Galaxy A3, which was released in January this year, is finally on the list of the smartphones that will be upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat. As of now, Samsung hasn’t provided any specific date or timing as to when the update will be finally available for the handset.
Android N spotted on Galaxy A3
The Galaxy A3 came pre-loaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow instead of the newer OS, which disappointed many consumers.
Now the device has been spotted at the GFXBench running the Android 7.0 Nougat update. Therefore it can be assumed that the update will be made available soon. The handset bearing the model number SM-A320x has now been spotted on the benchmarking site.
Features of the handset
Samsung started the year by releasing three mid-range smartphones in its Galaxy A series. Out of them, the Galaxy A3 is considered to be one of the most compact and affordable. The glass and metal device is quite attractive and packs in decent specs.
The mid-range handset features a 4.7 inch HD display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. The device also has Corning Glass 4 protection. The 2017 model of the smartphone runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 CPU and houses 1.5GB of RAM.
With an internal storage capacity of 16GB, which is expandable to an additional 64GB, the handset is targeted at budget buyers. The device is equipped with an 8MP primary camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. The smartphone also houses a non-removable 1900mAh battery. It is available in four hues – Soft Gold, Midnight Black, Platinum Silver, and Pearl White.
Android N features
Few of the other devices to have received Android N include the Galaxy A7, which was released in March this year. The Galaxy S7 series has also been updated to the latest OS. The Android Nougat update brings with it may new and exciting features. Post the update, one can avail the split screen mode, the new emojis, doze mode to save the battery, and many more.
When will the update hit the device?
The benchmark listing is merely an indication that the update for the Galaxy A3 is in the pipeline. It does not affirm the roll out window for the same. However, a possibility exists that Samsung is in the final testing stages and would push out Android N for the handset soon. Are you looking forward to the handset finally moving from Marshmallow to Nougat?
