A new video has leaked online and reveals the specs of the upcoming Moto X 2017. It also gives a peek into the upcoming handset. The video also suggests that the yet-to-be-announced smartphone from Motorola will not include the magnetic pins for the Moto Mods, which were introduced in the Moto Z series. It appears that the leaked video was captured at some sort of a presentation for the phone, but its authenticity is circumspect.

Rumored features and specs of Moto X 2017

The video hints that the Moto X 2017 will sport a 5.5-inch display with 3D Glass.

It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC. The smartphone may house 4GB of RAM and could offer 64GB of on-board storage. It is not clear whether the memory of the handset will be expandable.

The camera specifications for the 2017 variant of the Moto X have not been revealed by the leaked video. Only the words “Smart Camera” are visible, along with the confirmation of the presence of laser autofocus for the primary camera. The device will pack in a 3,800 mAh battery. This battery would support Quick Charge.

Other important features of the all-metal handset include a dual LED flash. A fingerprint sensor will also be mounted on the device's front per the leak. The handset will reportedly have IP68 rating, which indicates that it would be both dust and water resistant.

The leaked video also hints at an AI being housed in the Motorola handset. However, for now it is uncertain whether the company is collaborating with Google or will use Amazon's Alexa, or working on its own AI. It would make sense for the Lenovo-owned company to launch its very own AI assistant, as this capability is common in modern-day smartphones.

Name of Moto X 2017

Even though the handset is currently being referred to as the Moto X 2017, once it is officially launched, the company may change the name. According to popular leakster Evan Blass, the company is allegedly thinking of naming the device the “Moto X4.” Blass has a decent track record and therefore, it is quite likely that the company will release the device as Moto X4 and not Moto X 2017.

Regardless of the final name, the alleged features and specs of the smartphone seem to be impressive and consumers will wait with bated breath for the company to announce the handset in the coming months. Pricing of the Moto X is not known. There is no word on the release of the handset but a possibility exists that Motorola will unveil the handset in the near term.
