"Injustice 2," the sequel to "Injustice: Gods Among Us," will be released on May 16 in the U.S. NetherRealms Studios has already confirmed that the game will be available for both PlayStation 4 and XBOX One. However, the developers have yet to comment on a potential PC release of "Injustice 2." With the game set to be released next week, the first three DLC characters of "Injustice 2" have now been revealed on YouTube and Twitter.

Sub-Zero, Starfire, and Red Hood revealed

NetherRealms Studios has uploaded a trailer to their official YouTube account, in which they reveal the first DLC characters that will be included in their fighter pack 1.

These characters are Sub-Zero, Starfire, and Red Hood. You can watch the DLC reveal trailer below.

In this video, the three characters are seen emerging from the shadows, as they make their grand entrance. At the end of the trailer, we see Sub-Zero, Starfire, and Red Hood standing side by side as the camera zooms out. We then see 6 silhouettes behind them, which are presumably additional DLC characters that should be revealed in the coming weeks.

Ed Boon, who has been working with NetherRealms Studios since 2011, took to Twitter to reveal another image featuring the three confirmed DLC characters, as well as the aforementioned silhouettes.

While there are already plenty of theories on who these DLC characters could turn out to be, it is quite obvious that the second silhouette from the left is Aquaman's nemesis, Black Manta.

Who are the three confirmed DLC characters?

Fans of the "Mortal Kombat" series should already be familiar with Sub-Zero, who, along with Scorpion, is the poster boy of the franchise.

Scorpion was, of course, a playable DLC character in the first game, which was released back in 2013. On the other hand, DC Comics fans should know who Red Hood and Starfire are. Red Hood is the alter ego of Jason Todd, who served as Batman's second sidekick. As Robin, Todd was brutally killed off by the Joker in "Batman: A Death in the Family."

He was, however, brought back to life by Talia al Ghul, the daughter of Ra's al Ghul and Batman's on-and-off lover.

The resurrected Todd then began to fight crime once more - this time under the alias of Red Hood.

Starfire is perhaps best known as a member of the Teen Titans. She is an alien from planet Tamaran and, as such, has various superpowers, including super strength, flight, and the ability to generate energy blasts from her hands and eyes. Along with Red Hood and Arsenal, Starfire is also a founding member of the superhero group known as "The Outlaws". While we have now seen the in-game design of these three characters, NetherRealm Studios has yet to reveal their gameplay.
