The 2016 Samsung flagships Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge available from US Cellular has finally received the Android 7.0 Nougat update. The fifth largest network carrier in the United States will be rolling out the update from April 21 to all users. However, US Cellular is lagging a month behind other carriers like Verizon and Sprint, in rolling out the Android N update for the two smartphones.
Android Nougat update
The US Cellular variants of Galaxy S7 with the model number SM-G930R4 and the Galaxy S7 edge with the model number SM-G935R4 are receiving the software update.
The file size for the Android 7.0 Nougat Update for both the devices is 1512.39 MB. One will need a proper Wi-Fi connection enabled with high-speed internet connectivity.
US Cellular is providing users with two options for installing the update on the Samsung devices. According to the first option, all the users can update the operating system in their devices without using USB. To update the two Samsung smartphones to Android Nougat, one has to navigate to “Settings,” and choose the “About Device” option. Next, Click on “Software Update” on the “About Device” option. Lastly, click OK, and follow the on-screen instructions.
How to install the update
For those who still haven’t received the OTA Android Nougat update on their devices, they can install it from Samsung Kies.
However, to install it, a USB is needed along with a PC. The steps for downloading Samsung Kies on or PC are pretty easy.
First, use the USB port to connect the two Android smartphones to the computer. Next, start the Samsung Kies app on your computer. In case a new firmware update is available for download, it will be reflected on the Basic Information Tab.
From this tab click on the new update to download the same. Once the update is downloaded, you can install it on your smartphone.
Important points to remember before downloading
US Cellular mentioned that before opting for the Android Nougat update, both the Galaxy S7 and the edge must be connected to a Google account. There must be proper Wi-Fi connection, to carry out an uninterrupted and fast download.
Once all the updates have been installed, the Galaxy S7 will be on build G930R4TYU4BQC5, and the Galaxy S7 Edge will build on G935R4TYU4BQC5.
