Microsoft has revealed the list of free games for April 2017 as part of the Xbox Games With Gold program. Xbox Live Gold members will have a zombie-based action and Roman Empire-based game to look forward to, and two other games beginning April 1.

Free games for the month of April with Gold lineup is headlined by “Ryse: Son of Rome,” which is up for the whole month; and “The Walking Dead: Season 2,” available starting April 16 and will end May 15. Both for Xbox One, "Ryse" on retail is priced at $19.99, while the latter starts at $24.99.

Meanwhile, free games for the Xbox 360 include “Darksiders,” (from April 1 to 15), and “Assassin’s Creed: Revelations,” (from April 16 to May 15).

Both games are priced $19.99.

Xbox One owners will also get the chance to play “Assassin’s Creed: Revelations” and “Darksiders,” which is made possible by Xbox’s backward compatibility feature. An important thing to take note of, however, is that one must be subscribed to Xbox Live Gold.

'The Walking Dead: Season 2'

Developed by Telltale Games, the second chapter of "TWD" will let players experience the world of Clementine, fight a swarm of zombies and find survivors. It is followed by “The Walking Dead: A New Frontier,” which launched its first two episodes in December 2016.

'Ryse: Son of Rome'

Released 2013, this action-adventure title is an immersive third-person game that lets players take on the role of the Roman Soldier Marius Titus.

"Ryse" was one of the original games launched alongside the Xbox One.

The month of April is definitely shaping up to be an exciting time for members of the Xbox Live Gold program. All four games sport different types of gameplay and have received critical acclaim since launch.

In related news, Microsoft is also gearing up for the upcoming E3 convention in downtown Los Angeles.

Xbox users are expecting the reveal of the highly anticipated Project Scorpio, which Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, said will have a solid list of first-party titles. The exec himself revealed on Twitter that 1P games for the brand new console are "critical."
