Veteran quarterback Tom Brady is entering his 21st year in the NFL and his first season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after 20 years and six Super Bowl rings with the New England Patriots. Despite his age, the 43-year-old Brady is still playing at a high level, leading the Buccaneers to a 2-1 record and the lead in the NFC South. In their Week 3 win over the Denver Broncos, Brady became the oldest player in NFL history to throw three touchdown passes in a game.

In that outing, Brady completed 25 of 38 passes to eight different targets without an interception.

Many young players have admired Brady’s durability and his ability to keep up with the rigorous style of play in the NFL. Earlier, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff said he plans to follow Brady’s example when it comes to health and fitness to keep up with the veteran quarterback’s longevity. When asked about Brady’s longevity and success on the field, Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans said he knew the veteran quarterback’s key to success. "He just works his ass off," Evans said of Brady during his Wednesday’s video conference call with the media, per Greg Auman of The Athletic.

Against the Broncos, Evans caught two touchdown passes from Brady while fellow wideout Chris Godwin caught the other scoring strike.

One of Brady’s targets out vs Chargers

After leading the Buccaneers in receiving yards in their Week 1 loss to the New Orleans Saints, Godwin missed Week 2 due to concussion. He returned in Week 3 and caught five passes for 64 yards and a score from Brady. However, he left that game due to a hamstring issue. Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Godwin will miss the Buccaneers’ Week 4 outing against the Los Angeles Chargers at Raymond James Stadium after MRI confirmed that he suffered a mild hamstring strain.

Rapoport said Godwin could also miss their Thursday night’s clash against the Chicago Bears in Week 5.

With Godwin out, the Buccaneers expect Scotty Miller and the other backup receivers to step up in his place. "They have no choice but to step up," Evans said of the Buccaneers’ other receivers, per Auman’s tweet.

Brady imitates Belichick

Aside from being a legendary football coach, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is known for his catchphrase “we’re on to Cincinnati” when he was asked to discuss a loss several years ago. Now, Brady has channeled his former coach’s style as he tries to hype up their clash against the Chargers. Brady posted several photos of him and his Buccaneers’ teammates with the caption “On to LA”. Riding the momentum of their two-game winning streak, the Buccaneers are 7.5-point favorite over the Chargers in early betting odds.

The Chargers, for their part, are 1-2 after back-to-back losses with rookie quarterback Justin Herbert as starter. Around 10,000 Buccaneers fans will be allowed to personally watch Brady in action after Florida relaxed its rules on social gatherings.
