The Nebraska football team has been ramping up its recruiting as we enter the summer. That includes a recent visit by a diamond in the rough offensive lineman who didn't have a single FBS offer a few weeks ago. Trey Zuhn's first FBS offer was indeed the Huskers. Since that offer more than a few of the best teams in the country have followed suit.

Nebraska is now trying to cash in on the chip it got by being first in line. Zuhn came into Lincoln looking like he really has been impressed by what the program has to offer. That's very good news when it comes to beating off some top notch talent.

Visiting for camp

Zuhn posted a picture of himself standing with Nebraska football head coach Scott Frost on his Twitter account. "There’s no place like Nebraska!! Great to be back on campus for a summer football camp. Thank you @coachfrost, @BarrettRuud and the rest of the coaching staff! @SixZeroAcademy."

It appears that for now, the offensive tackle is showing his gratitude for putting him on the recruiting map. On April 17, the prospect didn't have a single offer. Then Nebraska football came calling. Three days later, Oklahoma State was his second offer. On May 1, he got a big in-state offer from Colorado.

The month of May has been a cascade of big offers. Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State and finally, Kansas State came calling.

With that many offers, coming to Lincoln for a football camp appears to be a nod that the Huskers could be in the lead.

From unrated to big-time potential

The Nebraska football team has been making some gains on the recruiting front in the last few weeks. That includes making the final list for highly touted prospects like Perrion Winfrey.

They are also looking to get a new tight end in the form of Travis Vokolek.

The Rutgers transfer is expected to be announcing his final landing spot any day now. He had said he was going to be announcing at the end of this week. That could mean it will be coming today or tomorrow. It doesn't appear the Nebraska football team is going to be getting the commit of Trey Zuhn anytime soon.

The offensive tackle, who still doesn't have a composite ranking, will likely get one some point soon. 247Sports does have him ranked as a 3-star prospect. They also have him rated as the third best player in the 2021 class in Colorado. He's also considered the 28th best offensive tackle in the class.

Because he's a member of the 2021 class, he's not going to be able to sign on the dotted line until December of next year at the earliest. The Nebraska football team is trying to lay the groundwork for him to be signing on the dotted line for them when the time comes. Being the first in line to show Zuhn love could be quite the boon for the Nebraska football team.
