The Xfl 2020 rumors have been somewhat light with regard to who will wind up as part of the rebooted football league, next year. However, that's about to change, as there is news expected for Thursday (February 7) for one of the XFL teams. That is the Dallas franchise, which could provide their fans one of their first big announcements of the team's early beginnings.

XFL 2020 news for Dallas team

The major news that has hit so far for the XFL was their eight teams' city locations. Among them are New York, St. Louis, Houston, Los Angeles, and Dallas.

According to various sources, including NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk, Dallas is scheduled to make a big announcement on Thursday. It's believed that the announcement will be who the team's head coach will be. As of this report, the Dallas XFL team has no nickname, logo, players, or other personnel.

However, a head coach for the XFL Dallas team will be welcome news. The rumored choice is former Oklahoma Sooners head coach Bob Stoops. He'll be the first coach announced for any team in the new league, and it's believed this is also a move to gain some much-needed publicity.

That's because the Alliance of American Football (AAF) will begin their inaugural season very soon.

The powers that be at the XFL realize they'll need to make a big power statement ahead of their competitor's debut. AAF's debut season starts on February 9 and will last for 10 weeks.

Dallas coach brings name, experience

Bob Stoops brings plenty of experience and will provide the XFL with a big name at head coach to kick things off.

He started at Oklahoma University back in 1999 and coached the team up until his retirement in June of 2017. During his time as Sooners coach, he racked up a record of 190-48. Stoops also led the team to 10 Big 12 titles during his time at the school.

His biggest accomplishment arrived just a year after he started in Oklahoma.

In 2000, the Sooners claimed the college football national championship under Stoops' leadership. He was a six-time Big 12 Coach of the Year and won AP Coach of the Year in 2000 for his accomplishments.

He's certainly got the resume as a football coach, so adding him as the first choice in the XFL 2020 league will be an exciting piece of news for the fans. From there, it will be a matter of announcing the head coaches for the other city's XFL teams. In addition, fans are certainly looking forward to seeing which players might join the league, as well as team names and logos. The XFL season kicks off on the weekend of Saturday, February 8, 2020, just a week after the NFL's next Super Bowl concludes.
