There is very little doubt that the Nebraska football staff has fully devoted itself to recruiting at this point. What might have surprised even some of the most devout recruiting experts is that the Huskers are not just paying attention to the 2019 class. Nor are they content on spending time on the 2020 class or the 2021 class. No, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are taking the idea of building for the future to the extreme this week. Scott Frost and company have sent out one of, if not their first official offer to a member of the 2022 class. Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden is the recipient of that offer.

Luther Burden looking like a budding star
If it's a little bit surprising that the Nebraska football team is already offering players who cannot sign with a school for several years, it might be even more surprising that they are not anywhere close to the first FBS team to offer the receiver. The Cardinal Ritter Prep star is already boasting three offers. Two of those are from Power 5 schools. This is not a kid that is likely to fall under the good old reliable, "diamond in the rough" label.
Both Missouri and Southern Mississippi have already given Luther Burden official offers.
He's been garnering quite a bit of attention from schools in the last few months. It seems likely he's going to come in as one of the top-ranked recruits in the class when rankings for the 2022 class are available.
Nebraska football ramping up their recruiting across the board
The Huskers are not a team to rest on their laurels.
They know that in order to have a better season than they did a year ago, they are going to need to find a way to rebuild the roster. They also know that if they are going to have success in the long run, they are going to need to compete with the "big boys" in recruiting. In order to hang with those big boys, they are going to need to get in on the ground floor.
The Cornhuskers have gotten in the door before schools like Alabama, or Oregon or USC or any of the other programs Frost and company have regularly gone toe-to-toe with.
Frost and his staff have been going outside the box in a recruiting approach, especially since the regular season has ended. In addition to upping their pursuit in the Junior College ranks, they are starting to go back after players they've lost out on. While the Nebraska football team lost out in October with Wandale Robinson, the staff is attempting to swing him back in their direction. Now the school is aiming at Luther Burden in order to start solidifying the team's future.
