The NFL power rankings for Week 9 have arrived and the topsy-turvy world of the NFL just can’t seem to settle down. Parity is the word that best seems to describe the 2018 season and the power rankings through the first eight weeks of the season.

Top 5 solid, then it’s wide open

So far in 2018, the Los Angeles Rams are the most complete team, the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs are very strong, while the New Orleans Saints and LA Chargers are making a great case to be among the top three teams in the league. However, teams ranked 10 through 15 or 20 can be debated until the cows come home!

According to a CBS Sports report, the way the season is playing out, a 9-7 team may win the NFC or AFC North, while it may be realistic that an 8-8 team could squeak into a wild card spot as well. Yes, it is cliche, but the parity in the NFL is stronger than ever. That being said, the good news is teams that are 3-4 or 3-5 headed into Week 9 are very much in the thick of things.

Texans continue run

When you start the season 0-3 in the NFL, you are basically done. Don’t tell that to the Houston Texans. Houston has reeled off five straight wins after losing their first three of the season and they are now in the driver's seat in the AFC South.

The same can be said of the Pittsburgh Steelers. After starting 1-2-1, the Steelers have won three straight and looking just fine without Le'Veon Bell in the backfield.

Yahoo! Sports indicates that the Steelers are still trying to work out a deal with several teams in the NFL to trade Bell, who undoubtedly has played his last down as a member of the Steelers.

The Seahawks, Texans, and Panthers all moved up this week, while the Lions, Ravens, and Dolphins fell back. As for the worst team in the NFL?

That honor belongs to the Oakland Raiders. Oakland found another way to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory Sunday afternoon when they were outscored 21-0 in the 4th quarter and losing by 14 to the Indianapolis Colts.

Not many people will be dressing like Chucky for Halloween in Oakland this year.
