The giants had a busy Wednesday, adding three players to their roster. While none of the additions are to be considered noteworthy, they add depth to a team that finished 3-13 last season. The three players added via waivers or free agency are cornerback C.J. Goodwin, defensive tackle A.J. Francis, and quarterback Alex Tanney.

Awarded C.J. Goodwin off waivers

Just one day after being released by the Arizona Cardinals, cornerback C.J. Goodwin found a new home as he was awarded to the Giants off waivers. The 28-year-old has appeared in 28 games with one career start.

His one start came in 2016 as a member of the Atlanta Falcons, a team who reached the Super Bowl. In 14 games that year, Goodwin finished with 17 tackles and two pass defenses. He played in 12 games for Atlanta last season before being waived. Goodwin was picked up by Arizona where he appeared in two games. Altogether with the two clubs, he had nine tackles. Goodwin becomes the sixth new defensive back on the roster as the Giants have also signed William Gay, Teddy Williams, Curtis Riley, B.W. Webb, and Michael Thomas.

Sign A.J. Francis

A.J. Francis, a 27-year-old defensive tackle, has reportedly agreed to a deal with the Giants just two days after being released by the Washington Redskins. He has played in nine career regular season games.

Six of those games came last year with Washington. Listed at 6-5, 337 lbs., Francis recorded 18 tackles in 2017. His most productive game actually came against the Giants when he was credited with six tackles. Francis also appeared in two games with the Seattle Seahawks and one with the Miami Dolphins in the 2015 season. He combined to make two tackles on the year.

Add Alex Tanney

The Giants added another quarterback as Alex Tanney announced via Twitter that he would be signing with the team. The 30-year-old has been a part of the Tennessee Titans organization for the past three seasons, but he has played in just one career game. That appearance came in the 2015 season when he went 10-14 for 99 yards and a touchdown in a relief appearance against the Indianapolis Colts.

The touchdown pass came on a five-yard strike to Dorial Green-Beckham.

The Giants have veteran Eli Manning and 2017 third-round pick Davis Webb returning this year at the quarterback position. They drafted Richmond quarterback Kyle Lauletta in the fourth round on Saturday and signed undrafted free agent Thomas Sirk out of East Carolina.
