When the 2017-18 NBA season comes to an end, LeBron James has another Decision to make. After starting his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and leading them to the NBA Finals, he made a Decision and ended up leaving to create a super team with the Miami Heat and made it to four straight NBA Finals before making another Decision to leave. LeBron came back home to Cleveland and has led them to three consecutive NBA Finals, winning one, and hopes to take them to a fourth this season.
However, once the season is over, James can make a new Decision and leave town once again. When asked by ESPN, Richard Jefferson talked about where LeBron James will end up next season.
LeBron James 2018 Decision
Richard Jefferson played for two seasons alongside LeBron James and knows the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar about as well as anyone who has played by his side. When asked about where LeBron will end up next season, Jefferson said that it is almost impossible to know where James will end up when and if he opts out of his contract.
When it comes to the media for the next few months, Richard Jefferson said it will be an easy storyline for reporters to follow and write about because LeBron James new Decision will be a huge one -- one that could make a new team a championship contender immediately.
Richard Jefferson said that no one knew that LeBron James was going to the Miami Heat until he made that Decision public. He also said that no one knew that he was going to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers until he made the announcement. As LeBron always says, if he doesn't say it, then it isn't true, and Jefferson said that people will know when LeBron tells everyone.
Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James
There are a lot of people who believe that LeBron James should make his mind up now and let the Cleveland Cavaliers know his plans. However, as Richard Jefferson also pointed out, it is James' right to be a free agent and make his decision when he makes it.
Jefferson said that NBA teams have the right to trade players -- as the Cleveland Cavaliers did with Isaiah Thomas, Dwyane Wade, Jae Crowder and Derrick Rose.
Those players were taken by surprise when the Cavs pulled off the trades, with the exception of Wade who was given the option. At the same time, LeBron also doesn't have to give a warning and has the right to be a free agent if he chooses.
LeBron James will make $35.6 million if he remains with the Cleveland Cavaliers next season.
