The 2018 offseason is on its way, and although there are still a few exciting weeks left in the regular season and a huge playoff campaign to come, a lot of fans and media are already looking past the season and looking towards the 2018 NBA offseason. With players like Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Paul George, Russell Westbrook, DeMarcus Cousins, Isaiah Thomas, Chris Paul, DeAndre Jordan and Joel Embiid possibly becoming free agents in the summer of 2018, it is no surprise a lot of fans have their focus on it.
With the Cavs having their worst regular season since LeBron came back to Cleveland, many around the league believe James is on his way out of town.
RJ speaks on LeBron’s future
Like a lot of players, coaches and teams have been asked this season, Richard Jefferson was thrown the question of LeBron James’ upcoming Free Agency and where he thinks he will take his talents next. After making two of the biggest moves in NBA history in 2010 and 2014 when he took his talents to South Beach, and then took his talents back home to the Cleveland Cavaliers; LeBron is ready for another huge decision just four years later in 2018, and Nuggets forward Richard Jefferson who is a former teammate and good friend of LeBron’s had some things to say:
“It’s an easy storyline for you guys to write, but at the end of the day, no one knew he was going to Miami, no one knew he was coming back here… he’s allowed to be a free agent..
teams are allowed to trade a player... He’ll address it with his family when the season is over."
Jefferson added that people keep guessing different teams he will go to or throw shots out there with apparent evidence that he will join this team or that team next. But RJ explains 'no one knows,' and joked about the situation saying people would be like 'he played junior high hockey with this person, so maybe he'll go play in Minnesota.' Obviously, fans and media love grasping at straws and coming up with any excuse to make a headline about Lebron's possible departure and arrival in another city for next season, but as RJ says 'shut up' and let the man live for the rest of this season.
Don't focus on things happening in the future when there is a season to be played right now, and as being a former teammate of James', Richard knows that this is Lebron's only focus right now.
Jefferson speaking facts
Jefferson who won a championship alongside LeBron in 2016 makes a great point if LeBron doesn’t know what his decision will be right now, how on earth can anyone else know.
LeBron has expressed that he is focusing on the season he is apart of right now and helping his Cavs team become the best they can be heading into the playoffs, and when the time comes he will make his decision. But right now that is not his focus, and it shouldn’t be his focus. So we should stop all the bogus reports… at least until the season is over.
