LeBron James has a chance to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers at the end of the 2017-18 NBA season. James could either take in over $30 million to play for the Cavs one more season or he could opt out of his contract and find another team to play for. A recent report indicated that there are four teams that are on James shortlist for free agency – the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers. However, one thing that LeBron has always said is that if you don’t hear things directly from his own mouth, it isn’t true.

That has now changed. On Friday, James talked to reporters about his upcoming free agency and spilled some huge news about his upcoming free agency.

LeBron James talks free agency

When it comes to the biggest NBA rumors that see LeBron James heading to the Los Angeles Lakers, the King said that people need to put on the brakes a little bit. LeBron said that the Lakers rumors are still there, but he has no plans to even think about – or contemplate his future with the Cleveland Cavaliers – until the NBA season is over with. That is because LeBron said that there is still “too much work to do” in Cleveland right now.

When it comes to LeBron James, he has already said that he won’t allow the Cleveland Cavaliers to trade him, as he has a no-trade clause built into his contract.

While the Cavs have no idea whether James will stay with the team, they also made a lot of moves at the NBA trade deadline to make the team, younger, more exciting and put them in a better position to make it back to the NBA Finals. Since the trades, James has been smiling a lot more than he has since the team traded Kyrie Irving before the season started.

Where will LeBron James be next year?

That brings up an interesting question. If LeBron James makes it back to the NBA Finals for the fourth consecutive season and can pull off the upset and knock off the Golden State Warriors for another NBA Championship, could LeBron stick with the Cleveland Cavaliers for another season? As James said, he handles all his business accordingly and when the time comes.

However, there is no way that he will jump the gun and look at free agency when he still has a chance to win a title in Cleveland.

LeBron James said that his only thoughts right now is to get the Cleveland Cavaliers ready to beat the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night and then move on to the next game, and so forth until the NBA playoffs. However, LeBron said that he will become a free agent at the end of the 2017-18 NBA season and will deal with things when that happens. That sounds like he will test the free agent waters and will consider his options when the time comes.
