A lot of NFL teams missed out on signing one of the best corners in the league in Richard Sherman. The shutdown corner was released by the Seattle Seahawks ending the 'legion of boom.' Michael Bennett was also traded to the Philadelphia Eagles solidifying their defensive line.
The San Francisco 49ers have had a couple of bad seasons, however, they have been on the rise and now have added veteran-corner Richard Sherman to improve their defense.
The deal
There have been a couple of interesting trades made throughout the league with the New York Giants making some moves to improve their defense and the Cleveland Browns making some key acquisition on offense with a QB and a dynamic wide receiver.
And now the 49ers have made a splash by signing Sherman to a "three-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers." The details have been confirmed by ESPN from writer Nick Wagoner. The deal "is worth up to $39.15 million." But, the corner will be working diligently to come back from a torn Achilles.
The corner is pretty happy about joining the team as he is familiar with the area as he played college ball at Stanford. He took to Twitter to state some encouraging words on his new chapter.
Thank you to everyone for the kind words. This is just another chapter in the journey. This will be an ongoing process and I am excited to take on this challenge. To the fans urging me to join your team, I am humbled but I can only look at the teams that have reached out.

Richard Sherman saw that a change needed to be made, it looked like he wanted to get out of Seattle with the disappointing Super Bowl loss to the New England Patriots leaving a bad taste and causing a noticeable rift between the Seahawks.
Just about everyone will remember the coach's decision of choosing to throw the ball to score a touchdown instead of running the ball with one of the most proven players in Marshawn Lynch. From that point on, it seemed like Sherman was still dismayed and disgusted by the decision that cost them a super-bowl ring as Malcolm Butler picked off the pass from QB Russell Wilson.
49ers season outlook
"The addition of Richard Sherman will surely improve the Niners defense which "allowed a total QBR of 87 last season, second-worst in the league." The corner was a key component to the Seahawks having one of the best defenses throughout the years. He is a physical defensive player who can shut down one of the best offensive weapons on any given NFL team.
The San Francisco 49ers look terrific heading into next season with QB Jimmy Garoppolo who played an outstanding last season. He is still undefeated as a starter for the team. More importantly, the Niners have a good chance to make the playoffs next season and do some damage and get back to the glory days with Colin Kaepernick and legendary linebacker Patrick Willis. They will have competition in their division with the Los Angeles Rams.
Sherman knows all too well that he will be joining a rival of his former team as they are set to play against each other for two games in the upcoming regular season. Sherman arrives at the 49ers "with 32 interceptions first among NFL players, as are his 99 passes defended, according to the NFL." These statistics are the best in the league in the span since 2011.
