Boxing Hall Of Famer Oscar De La Hoya has never been someone who beats around the bush with how he feels on any platform; the heavyweight champ recently made a guest appearance on Golden Boy radio with some eye-popping comments calling Connor Mcgregor and Hinting at a possible return to the boxing ring:
"You Know I'm competitive, I still have it in me. I've been secretly training, secretly training. I'm faster than ever and stronger than ever. I know I can take out Connor Mcgregor in two rounds. I'll come back for that fight. Two round. Just one more.
I'm calling him out. Two rounds, that's all I need. That's all I'm going to say."
With Oscar retiring in 2008 following his match against Manny Pacquiao there's a lot of curiosity around the comments that were made like is Oscar prepping for a return ? is he just here to challenge Connor for the sport or is it a money grab ? or even more critical will Connor accept the fight?
If Connor Mcgregor accepts the fight
Imagine if Connor Mcgregor has already heard the news from Oscar and accepted the challenge, we could see this match live up to the same hype that Connor and Floyd fight held. Oscar De La Hoya boxing career is from impressive it's kind of iconic winning many titles with only losing six times but does Connor care?
During the press. run for Connor Mcgregor v.s. Floyd Mayweather, Connor showed no respect to the high money Mayweather, and some would say Connor got the best of Floyd with his comments. The press conference alone would cringeworthy to watch because Connor is the master of working for the crowd and getting into his opponents head so just imagine how much ammo Connor would have for Oscar with all out of the ring drama; I could hear Connor now saying "this guy wore a fooking thong?".
Would the fight be worth the watch?
A lot of people weren't too excited and were disappointed that the Floyd and Connor fight was going to happen and many people in the sports universe were sold on the fact the battle wasn't worth watching. If Connor accepts this fight against Oscar, it'll be worth the watch with Oscar coming out of retirement and Connor having way more experience.
After Connor loss to Floyd, a lot of fans were wondering whats next for Connor now; reports were surfacing that he wants to prove himself as a boxer so why not get your first win against the Hall-of-Famer Oscar Del La Hoya. Nobody would be an underdog but if Connor can pull off a win it, then it would be massive bragging rights and could help him push for a rematch against Floyd.
