Darrelle Revis has signed with the Kansas City Chiefs and will likely resume his NFL career on Sunday (Nov. 26). The Chiefs just issued a statement that they had signed the free-agent cornerback, adding to the depth of their secondary for the rest of the season. This might address some of the questions that NFL analysts had about the team defense against the pass. Revis is certainly an improvement.

Chiefs’ general manager Brett Veach spoke about the signing in the statement, explaining why the team has decided to make this move. “Darrelle is a proven player in this league and we are excited to add him to our secondary. He’s had a Hall of Fame career and his leadership and playing experience will be valuable to out defense.”

Revis is back

Darrelle Revis made the Pro Bowl seven times in his career, finding a lot of success with the New York Jets and New England Patriots. His last team was the Jets, where he played in the 2016 season before getting released. Revis was courted by several franchises in the NFL offseason but didn’t end up signing a contract.

Now he should have fresh legs and provide the Chiefs with a much-needed boost on defense.

In his 10-year NFL career, Darrelle Revis has 29 interceptions, including three that he took back for touchdowns. 25 of them came with the Jets, where Revis was the anchor for Rex Ryan’s defense. Revis has also appeared in nine playoff games, winning the Super Bowl during the 2014 NFL season with the New England Patriots. Now he will try to help get the Kansas City Chiefs back to the Super Bowl for the first time in years.The Chiefs take on the Buffalo Bills in Week 12.

The Darrelle Revis signing isn’t the only NFL news from Week 12. Josh Gordon has returned to the Cleveland Browns, giving the team a huge weapon on offense if they decide to put him on the field.

If Gordon can keep from getting suspended again, NFL fans will get to see whether he is still one of the best receivers in the game. Gordon led the league in receiving yards during the 2013 season.

The Seattle Seahawks waived Dwight Freeney on Tuesday (Nov. 21), cutting the defensive end loose after just four games with the team. Freeney didn’t have to wait long to find his new team, though, as a report by ESPN states that he has already been picked up by the Detroit Lions. Freeney is eligible to play in the Thanksgiving Day game for the Lions, possibly giving the team some much-needed depth on the defensive line.
