New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is now the all-time leader in terms of regular-season wins by an NFL signal-caller after leading the team to a controversial 24-17 win over the New York Jets Sunday at MetLife Stadium. Brady completed 20 of 38 passes for 257 yards and two touchdowns and an interception to lead the Patriots to a hard-earned win over the Jets and break a three-way tie for the lead with Peyton Manning and Brett Favre for his 187th career regular-season win.

Overall, Brady has an NFL-leading 212 career victories, including the playoffs, since taking over as the Patriots’ starting quarterback in 2001.

Brady’s record could remain for a long time with Manning (200 wins) and Favre (199) already retired. Active quarterbacks Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints have 139 career wins, while Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers has 103. Since assuming the starting quarterback job with the Patriots, Brady has won five Super Bowl rings, two MVP trophies and four Super Bowl MVP trophies. He also made it to the Pro Bowl 12 times and was selected to the First-Team All-Pro twice in 2007 and 2010.

Patriots hold off Jets

After missing the team’s victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, tight end Rob Gronkowski returned to action for the Patriots, catching six passes for 83 yards and two touchdowns for the Patriots, who claimed the top spot in the AFC East with a 4-2 record. Wide receiver Brandin Cooks caught six passes for 93 yards while Dion Lewis carried the ball 11 times for 52 yards and a touchdown for the Patriots, who escaped with the win after Austin Seferian-Jenkins' four-yard touchdown catch with 8:24 remaining in the fourth period was overturned. After review, officials said Seferian-Jenkins bobbled the ball twice and controlled it after he was out of bounds in the end zone, resulting in a touchback.

If upheld, the touchdown could have cut the Patriots’ 24-14 lead. After that play, the Jets lost momentum, scoring just a field goal with 3:40 remaining in the fourth quarter, leaving the score at 24-17.

McCown tossed for 354 yards

Veteran quarterback Josh McCown completed 31 of 47 passes for 354 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions for a rating of 84.9 but his efforts went down the drain as the Jets dropped to 3-3, good for 4th in the AFC East. Jermaine Kearse and Robby Anderson each caught four passes for 79 and 76 yards, respectively. Kerley caught two passes for 61 yards and a score while Seferian-Jenkins caught eight throws for 46 yards and a score.
