Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott insisted that his team will remain confident going forward. The Cowboys lost to the Los Angeles Rams at AT&T Stadium this past Sunday by a score of 35-30. The Cowboys had a 24-16 lead at halftime, but a 10-0 third quarter and a 9-6 fourth quarter helped the visitors pull off an upset in Texas.
The Cowboys players caught 252 receiving yards on 20 passes against the Rams.
The team also collected 189 rushing yards on 27 carries. The Dallas-based franchise now sits at a 2-2 record after Week 4. Prescott said the Cowboys are "not going to lose confidence" after their latest loss.
"This offense, this team is not going to do that, 2-2 and a lot of football left," Prescott added, per Todd Archer of ESPN.
Prescott's consistency falls him
Prescott needed 36 throws for a total of 256 yards. Prescott's three passes ended with a touchdown. Yet, it wasn't enough to help the Cowboys beat the Rams.
Prescott failed to perform at the same level the whole game. Prescott had a great first half as he completed 11-of-15 of his passes for 155 yards.
But, the Cowboys quarterback couldn't do the same in the second half, completing 9-of-21 of his passes for just less than 100 yards.
However, the Rams defense did its job on Prescott. The Rams pressured Prescott, who got sacked two times during the match. Prescott also threw one interception -- his third of the season. The Mississippi State product threw just two interceptions in the season during his rookie campaign a year ago. The promising quarterback also successfully scrambled a couple of times to avoid getting sacked by the Rams defense.
"It's just knowing where I'm going with the ball, having a good idea where I'm going with the ball so that my feet can be in tune with my mind," Prescott added.
"And just being balanced and making those throws."
Prescott eager to improve
Prescott didn't back down from the responsibility as he admitted that he has to be "better." With 1:55 left on the clock, Prescott was given the football to lead the Cowboys to a 3-1 record. It was all over for the Cowboys when running back Ezekiel Elliott fell just a yard short on a fourth attempt.
Prescott and the Cowboys are hoping to bounce back against the Green Bay Packers this coming Sunday. Prescott led his side to a 30-16 away win against the Packers during last year's regular season. Disappointingly, Prescott failed to do the same in the playoffs, as the top-seeded Cowboys lost in their postseason opener to the Packers.
Prescott will be eager to make amends this Sunday for the loss suffered against the Rams, as well as the playoffs loss suffered to the Packers this past January.
"I just have to be better," Prescott acknowledged. "No reason. No excuse."
