The Washington Redskins are fresh off a beatdown of the Oakland Raiders on Sunday Night Football last weekend. With the Kansas City Chiefs next up on the schedule Monday Night, there will be no rest for the weary.

Jay Gruden with the injury report

The Redskins currently have eight players on the team's injury report as of Thursday. Head coach Jay Gruden spoke about the injuries in detail at his press conference with members of the media on Thursday.

“Did not participate was Ty Nsekhe. He had a core muscle surgery on Tuesday. Limited were Jordan Reed (rib/sternum); Rob Kelley (rib); Mason Foster (shoulder); Matt Ioannidis (shoulder). Then full was everybody else – Josh Norman (shoulder), Samaji Perine (hand), and Montae Nicholson (shoulder) were all full.”

When asked about further details on tackle Ty Ksekhe's injury and how long he will be out Gruden was direct with his response. “I think three to six [weeks] probably.”

This is bad news in terms of depth along the offensive line, a spot where it's imperative to always have a quality backup who can come in and fill a role at any moment due to injuries or players needing a quick breather.

The Redskins did sign former Minnesota Vikings tackle T.J. Clemmings not long ago, but the thought was that the 25-year-old Clemmings was thinking about shifting inside to guard after having a tough time at tackle in the NFL. Wih Nsekhe out for at least three weeks, Gruden says Clemmings will now act as the team's third tackle.

"He played a lot in Minnesota," said Gruden. "Two years in Minnesota played some tackle and guard, so he has got some experience, which is good. Now just making sure he is up to speed with our terminology and our protection calls and our runs. That’s the key, but he is a good athlete, and obviously, it’s good to have that type of experience in NFL games to be the third guy.”

Clemmings (6-6, 304 lbs) played in 31 games while with the Vikings, starting 30 of them in the two years he spent in Minnesota.

Team is coming together nicely

The Redskins are coming together nicely as a team the last two weeks. Sunday night against the Oakland Raiders the defense really came to play and shocked a few onlookers in the process. The offense continues to search for its identity after losing two 1,000-yard receivers this past offseason. Runningback Chris Thompson has elevated his play to superstar status with over 200 yards receiving the last couple of weeks. While the team is statically a top ten football club in both offensive and defensive categories, the doubters still exist.

Washington will likely have to pull out a victory in Arrowhead Stadium this coming Monday night before they start to get any acknowledgment from the media although they did move into many "experts" top ten power rankings this week.
