Week four of college football is approaching, and many teams have the intention of separating themselves from the pack this week. The Heisman race continues to build steam, as many of the candidates prepare to have a statement game to influence the voters. The ESPN expert polls for the Heisman were released and there was a Clear Leader in those polls. The state of Oklahoma is well represented in the polls, as two players reside in the top three spots. Let's take a look at the top players in the Heisman polls.

Baker Mayfield

Baker Mayfield sits atop the Heisman polls heading into week four.

He received 11 of the 12 possible first-place votes, ending up with 59 points. Mayfield has dominated college football this season, completing about 77 percent of his passes for over 1000 yards and 10 touchdowns. He already has his statement win, which came against Ohio State on their home turf. Many remember what happened after the game, when he planted their flag in the middle of the field. Mayfield has been simply phenomenal since the season began and he has another chance to improve his Heisman resume as he is facing a 0-3 Baylor team this week.

Saquon Barkley

Coming in second is Penn State running back Saquon Barkley. He received only one first-place vote, ending up with a total of 37 points.

His performance last week was great, racking up almost 200 scrimmage yards. That was overshadowed, however, by his teammate and QB Trace McSorley. Barkley has been a dual-threat this season, having 200 yards receiving and rushing. He has the Lions ranked in the top 10 and is looking forward to leading them into the College Football Playoff.

He is expected to have a big game next week against Iowa.

Mason Rudolph

Rounding out the top three of the poll is Oklahoma State QB, Mason Rudolph. Rudolph had a huge day against Pittsburgh last week, throwing for almost 500 yards and five touchdowns, all before the first half. Rudolph has been a deep-bomber all season while still completing over 70 percent of his passes.

Rudolph will have time to rest his arm, as they have a bye week this week.

Other notable players in the poll include Lamar Jackson, who fell in the poll due to his struggles against Clemson. Sam Darnold is one spot below Jackson. Darnold didn't have the best night vs. Texas, but his calm demeanor under pressure fueled his team to the win. Josh Rosen of UCLA is seventh after his great personal game but loss against Memphis.
