The English Premier League has begun and as predicted in my last article, “it holds lots of unpredictability!” We had a blasting weekend right from the first whistle to the last; the weekend didn’t come short of upsets, we had lots of goals etc.

This is a qualitative round up of the games played in week one of the Premier League. Analysis the winners, losers, results, cards, goals and much more.....

Season Opener: Only one game was featured

Yipee! EPL featured on one game in 2017/2018 season opener. Arsenal and Leicester were given the honor to be the first set of teams to play this season and of course, the game did not come short of its expectations.

Arsene Wenger's men came out victorious at the Emirates with a 4 - 3 win over Leicester with Jamie Vardy scoring twice.

Stat: Seven Goals scored in the 2017/2018 season opener game.

Granit Xhaka had more touches than any player

Arsenal season opener comeback against Leicester City on Friday was engineered by Xhaka. The late two goals that were scored by the Gunners came from the Swiss player. Xhaka scored the third goal of the game to level up while he gave an assist to Olivier Giroud from a corner kick that made it 4 - 3 to beat Shakespeare's men who had earlier gone up thrice in the game.

Total Cards (35)

The Premier League games for week one saw 35 cards.

They were 32 yellow cards dished out by the referees in various games while three red cards were given to Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea) and Jonjo Shelvey (Newcastle).

Own Goals (2)

They were two own goals in Premier League Week 1 games. Brighton and Hove Albion player, Dunk started his Premier League season with an own goal in the game against Manchester City while Crystal Palace's Ward also found the back of the net first as they lost to league new comer Huddersfield Town by 3 goals to nil.

Premier League goal scorers (20)

Week one had 20 different goals scorers with braces coming from four players - Romelu Lukaku (Man Utd), Steve Mounié (Huddersfield Town), Sam Vokes (Burnley) and Jamie Vardy (Leicester City).

Manchester United sits on top of the Premier League after an emphatic 4 - 0 win against West Ham on Sunday.
