Saturday night's NFL pre-season schedule was jam-packed with games for Week 3, including a meeting of the two NFL squads. The New York Giants were able to prevail over the New York Jets in a tight game, 32-31. It wasn't necessarily the Giants' offense that helped get the "W", though. Here's the latest Jets vs. Giants game recap including top performers and stats.

NFL game recap

The New York Giants had a strong first half and that was good enough, for the most part. They scored 19 points in the first quarter thanks to a Jason Pierre-Paul safety early on, followed by an Aldrich Rosas' field goal several minutes later.

With under five minutes to go, Landon Collins picked off a pass for a 23-yard interception return. With under 30 seconds to go, it was Orleans Darkwa with a one-yard run for the TD. The team would add another field goal in the second from Mike Nugent and then Donte Deayon had a 36-yard pick six to put the Giants up 29-3.

The New York Jets made their comeback in the second half after being held to just a field goal in the first. They scored 15 unanswered points in the third quarter which included touchdown passes from Bryce Petty to ArDarius Stewart and Bilal Powell. After a Giants' field goal, Petty would find Stewart again in the fourth quarter and Christian Hackenberg would hit Frankie Hammond for a second TD pass.

However, the team's attempt at the two-point conversion failed and the Giants held on for the one-point win.

For tonight's game, Eli Manning got some reps on the field and finished with a 7-for-14 passing night with 121 yards and an interception. Three other quarterbacks also played for the Giants including Geno Smith who threw 51 yards on 5-for-10 passing.

The lone touchdown on offense came from Orleans Darkwa who had seven carries and 21 yards, while Wayne Gallman had 12 carries for 43 yards. The two other scores for the G-Men came on the defensive end thanks to pick six plays.

For the NY Jets, Bryce Petty was among the team leaders as well as ArDarius Stewart. Petty threw 15-for-18 completions to get 250 yards and three touchdowns, while Christian Hackenberg threw 12-of-21 passes for 126 yards, a touchdown, and two INTs.

Stewart caught two touchdowns and finished with 82 yards on five receptions while Bilal Powell also scored a TD and had 110 yards on four receptions.
