On Wednesday the Olympic medal winning cyclist Jack Bobridge was accused of selling drugs. The 28-year-old Australian was arrested in his hometown and later on was granted bail on Thursday. Jack was arrested for selling and supplying MDMA.
The police stormed his house and gym in separate areas of Perth. Jack was arrested after a long-running investigation, and he will be facing the court again next month. The former Olympic cyclist had retired from his career last year due to rheumatoid arthritis. According to BBC, the police was investigating about alleged dealing of illicit drugs in licensed venues around the city.
Police charged 61 people for illegal drugs
The police have arrested 61 people for illicit drug dealing, out of which Jack Bobridge was one among them. The other drugs involved were cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, and cannabis. However, Jack Bobridge was charged with numerous counts of selling and supplying MDMA. Nearly $800,000 of drugs were seized by the police since their drug operation in June.
Senior Sergeant Darryl Cox said that they have taken steps to monitor the Perth entertainment industries. “We will continue to target anyone that enters the entertainment precinct with drugs," Cox said. Officials are taking steps to ensure the safety of all patrons as they encourage all community members to provide the police with information about drug dealing.

Jack Bobridge won silver medals in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics out of three pursuits. The former cyclist also gained three track world titles, four Commonwealth Games gold medals, and in 2011 he broke the world record for the 4km individual pursuit. His involvement in the drug case came to a surprise to most of his fans.
After the Olympic campaign in Brazil, Bobridge was one of Australia’s top cyclists. Last year he rode for the Trek-Segafredo team and had a successful Olympic campaign in Brazil.
