Brand new champ?
AJ Styles captured the U.S. title at a live event held in New York over the past few days, defeating former champion Kevin Owens in a surprising fashion.
Just a week ago, Styles had won a huge battle royal set up on "SmackDown" to become No. 1 contender for the title. However, it now appears that the scene has changed with Styles winning the title in a match that wasn't televised. Will Owens get a rematch on tonight's show, and what will happen with Styles' "Battleground" match now?
In addition to that, John Cena made his big return to "SmackDown" last week and was confronted by Rusev. The two have had a history of feuds and big matches in the past, with the United States title usually involved. This time around, the two will be competing in a Flag Match at the "Battleground" PPV. Will one of the two stars make a move to gain some momentum on tonight's show?
