When the WWE brand split happened earlier this year, one teased feud was Bray Wyatt. The Eater of Worlds, against Finn Balor, the Demon. It seemed like an interesting idea but was soon seemingly scrapped. With the injury to Braun Strowman, both men were thrown into the Extreme Rules match to determine the new No. 1 contender to Brock Lesnar’s Wwe Universal Championship. After that, Bray moved into a feud with Seth Rollins and Finn languished until finally battling newcomer Elias Samson. With SummerSlam coming, things may be heating up again for the two wrestlers.
Bray Wyatt vs. Finn Balor
Seth Rollins has now lost to Bray Wyatt in back-to-back matches and it looked like the WWE might go for a third match between the two at SummerSlam but it appears that won’t happen. While there is no word on what Rollins will do at SummerSlam, Sportskeeda reports that Bray will move back into the originally planned feud with Finn Balor for the biggest show of the summer. According to the report, that feud should kick off on this upcoming episode of Monday Night Raw.
This is great news for Finn Balor. Coming onto Monday Night Raw, the WWE pushed Finn to the moon. He was undefeated, beat Roman Reigns clean in the ring, and then won the first ever WWE Universal Championship.
However, Balor tore his labrum and ended up out of action for much of the next year. When he returned, the WWE seemed to push him a little slower. He suffered his first losses and then languished in a minor feud with Elias Samson.
Bray Wyatt is finally winning
While Bray Wyatt finally won his first titles over on SmackDown Live, winning the tag belts with Randy Orton and then winning the WWE World Championship as well.
However, outside of those titles, Bray has developed a reputation of losing his feuds. He makes a lot of big talk and is always in a major feud but he never wins those feuds. That is what makes him beating Seth Rollins twice so surprising, even if it was through cheating.
With Wyatt actually winning a feud, it makes a feud with Finn Balor more interesting.
Normally, Balor would be a huge favorite to beat Bray Wyatt in a feud but now it seems like the WWE might be pushing Bray as a legitimate heel and a Balor win is not guaranteed. However, the WWE will want to make sure that this match for Wyatt is better than the mess that he took part in at WrestleMania 33 against Randy Orton.
The biggest lure of this SummerSlam match could be the return of the Demon. The last time that Finn Balor took on the Demon personality was last year when he won the WWE Universal Championship from Seth Rollins. When interviewed about this, Balor said he was happy and didn’t need the Demon. There might not be a better person to bring out the Demon than Bray Wyatt.
