The biggest Tennis Tournament of the season, Wimbledon has begun and here is the review of the first day in the men's draw.
Dustin Brown, the entertaining player from Germany, won the first point in the 2017 Wimbledon Championship against Joao Sousa. Brown, the World No.97, won the match in four sets after two hours of play.
Sam Querrey didn't have any problems against Thomas Fabbiano, beating the Italian in straight sets.
However, Sam wasn't so impressive on his serve in the first two sets. Fabbiano broke his serve twice and had several break points, but Querrey responded with a break of his own in each set and took a 2-0 lead. The third set was all about Querrey, as he won it 6-2. He'll play against Nikoloz Basilashvili in the second round, who defeated Carlos Berlocq in straight sets.
Nadal and Murray won easily
Andy Murray had a relatively easy opponent in the first round, as he faced a young and talented player from Kazakhstan, Alexander Bublik. Murray won easily in straight sets. Bublik entered the tournament as a 'lucky loser' and made his Wimbledon debut against the No.1 on the Centre Court.
So, despite the loss, he can be very proud with the highlight of his young career. Andy will play against Dustin Brown in the second round.
Rafael Nadal defeated John Millman 6-1 6-3 6-2 after one hour and 48 minutes of play. Nadal extended his winning streak to 23 sets in a row on the ATP Tour. His next opponent will be an American, Donald Young, who defeated Denis Istomin.
Marin Cilic with an impressive win, Kyrgios retires
Thiago Monteiro beat an Australian Andrew Whittington in four sets, as he reached the second round. That was a first win on the grass court for Monteiro in his career. He'll play against the Russian Karen Khachanov in the second round.
Nick Kyrgios was the first top player who lost a match in the 2017 Wimbledon.
That was certainly the biggest surprise of the day. After he lost the first two sets against Paul-Henri Herbert, Nick was forced to retire because of a hip injury.
Marin Cilic, the 7th seed, didn't have an easy task in the first round, as he faced German, Phillip Kohlschreiber. He didn't have any trouble at all with Kohlschreiber, as he won the match impressively. The Croat will play against another German in the second round - Florian Mayer, who passed the first round after a retirement by Viktor Troicki.
