New reports surfaced saying that free agent Jonas Jerebko signed a contract with Utah Jazz. The contract is worth $8.2 million for two years.

Thirty-year-old Jerebko played for the Boston Celtics for two and a half seasons. His first four and a half seasons were with Detroit Pistons. Out of all his games, he averaged 3.8 points per 15 minutes in a game, ESPN reported. For his last season with the Celtics, he averaged 3.8 points per game.

Jerebko’s strengths

Yahoo Sports reported that Jerebko is pretty good at making three-point shots. He might play as a power forward alongside Rudy Gobert with the Utah Jazz if the reports are true about him being acquired by the NBA team.

The frontcourt of Utah Jazz has not been that strong and signing Jerebko would help the team a lot. The floor-spacing of Jerebko would benefit the team greatly. He is a veteran and Utah Jazz could use his help to train the younger players.

Bleacher Report also said that although he does not average more than 20 minutes per game in the court, he can extend his game beyond the three-point line. He has a 34.6 percent mark from the area on the court behind the three-point line during the 2016-2017 NBA Season.

Boris Diaw no longer with Utah Jazz

Jazz could face problems in terms of the salary capping if they really have acquired Jerebko. If Jerebko’s $8.2 million two-year contract is pushed through, they would have to create a cap space.

However, the team just waived Boris Diaw, who was supposedly set to have a $7.5 million salary. Waiving Diaw helped Jazz a lot in terms of making space for Jerebko’s rumored impending arrival.

Diaw played one season with the Utah Jazz and fans expected that he would be removed from the team due to the trade rumors surrounding him.

The veteran, who has been playing in the NBA for 14 years now, took to his Instagram account to thank the NBA team as well as the Jazz fans. It is unclear where he is heading.

Who else is Utah Jazz signing?

Spin reported that Thabo Sefolosha and Ekpe Udoh are also set to sign a contract with the Utah Jazz. Sefolosha, Udoh, and Jerebko are all free agents.

These have not been confirmed yet and it is unclear when an official announcement on the matter will be made.

Sefolosha played for Atlanta Hawks for the last three seasons. He averaged 7.2 points and 4.4 rebounds last season. Udoh, on the other hand, played in Turkey for the last two seasons.

All these new rumored additional players came after Gordon Hayward did not sign with Utah Jazz again and became a free agent. He will be playing for the Boston Celtics this season.
