In the latest of the WWE rumors and spoilers, the winner of the samoa joe vs. Brock Lesnar match for the Universal Championship appears to be set. The two ring behemoths will collide at WWE's upcoming "Great Balls Of Fire" 2017 pay-per-view in July.

The fact that Joe won the big Fatal 5-Way match to become Brock's next challenger surprised plenty of fans, and has them wondering if Joe just might become the next WWE Universal Champion. Here's the latest on the match and who is expected to walk away from the PPV with the title.

The matchup

At this year's "WrestleMania 33," Brock Lesnar finally got his huge win over Goldberg and it was to win Goldberg's WWE Universal title.

Brock has held onto that title belt ever since winning it at "Mania," and will make his first title defense at the newly-named "Raw" exclusive pay-per-view, "Great Balls of Fire" in early July.

Once Braun Strowman had to sit out from wrestling for a while after getting an elbow surgical procedure done, "Raw" General Manager Kurt Angle announced that a new No. 1 contender would be determined. To figure out who it would be, Angle announced a Fatal 5-Way match for the "Extreme Rules" 2017 pay-per-view.

Competing in that main event match were former Universal Champion Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns, and Samoa Joe. The close of the match saw Balor get the upper hand on Reigns and nearly get a pinfall, but Samoa Joe snuck it to put a Coquina Clutch on Balor.

Once Finn had passed out, Joe was declared winner and new No. 1 contender.

On last week's "Raw," Joe decided to send a message to Brock Lesnar through his advocate Paul Heyman. After the two spoke to one another in the ring and shook hands ahead of the big match, Joe grabbed Heyman in the Coquina Clutch. That was enough to enrage "The Beast," who will now be looking to destroy Joe at the pay-per-view.

Will Brock walk away with the title, though?

Who will win?

The website The Heavy reported on Monday that Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer has indicated the plan is for "The Beast" Brock Lesnar to leave the arena victorious. The long-term plan appears to be for Brock to hold onto the title for quite a while too. He'll eventually defend against Braun Strowman (possibly at "Summerslam"), Finn Balor, and Seth Rollins.

Ultimately, the WWE rumors suggest that Brock will still be the WWE Universal Champion once "WrestleMania 34" arrives in April of 2018. At that point, he'll be defending against Roman Reigns, who may be the 2018 "Royal Rumble" match winner. Believe that?
