Steve Kerr has led the Golden State Warriors for three straight seasons, winning the NBA Championship in his first season there. However, in the 2016-17 NBA season, Kerr had help when Mike Brown took over as the active head coach for the Warriors when Kerr had to leave on April 19 due to medical concerns. The Warriors and their fans welcomed Kerr back to the court for Game 2 of the NBA Finals as the Warriors attempt to win their second title in three seasons. Golden State beat Cleveland in the game, 132-113.

Steve Kerr's medical conditions

Steve Kerr had to undergo a medical procedure to repair a spinal cord leak and has missed almost two months of coaching recovering from it.

The actual name of the problem was a cerebrospinal fluid leak. This was a complication from the back surgery from two years ago. Kerr underwent a second procedure in 2015 and had been looking for alternative answers. He finally had the treatment done this year and sat out of almost two months worth of Golden State Warriors games to try to finally fix this problem.

Steve Kerr has been questionable to return ever since the playoffs started and he was almost ready to return for the NBA Finals. At the time of his procedure, Golden State Warriors owner Joseph Lacob said that the team hoped to have him back on the sidelines sooner rather than later and it took just about two months for that return to happen.

The Golden State Warriors

With Steve Kerr out of action, the Golden State Warriors went 11-0 under assistant head coach Mike Brown. They are 14-0 in the 2016-17 postseason under Mike Brown after the win on Monday night with Steve Kerr back on the bench leading the team. Kerr joked "that Mike guy" did well while he was away. Brown used to coach the Cleveland Cavaliers before LeBron James returned to the team.

Steve Kerr held a press conference to announce his return to the sidelines and said that he was telling the press before he even informed his team. Klay Thompson called it "awesome, " and Stephon Curry said it gave them energy on Monday night. Draymond Green said it is great to have Kerr back on the sidelines, but it is business as usual for the Golden State Warriors.

This is a huge time for Steve Kerr to face the Cleveland Cavaliers team that beat him last year despite his Golden State Warriors jumping out to a 3-1 lead. After the Monday night game, the Cavaliers are up 2-0. Kerr said that he isn't worried about that and is just happy to be back.
