Despite the fact that Odell Beckham Jr. skipped out on the offseason OTAs for the New York Giants, he showed up for minicamp and looked like he was ready to get the season started even though he wants a contract extension. While working with kids at his second annual football camp, Beckham said that he might be more ready for this season than he has ever been in his entire career with the Giants.

Beckham Jr. talks 2017 season

When talking about playing the 2017 Nfl Season, Odell Beckham Jr. said that he is more ready to play this year than he has ever been before.

Beckham said that he is ready mentally, spiritually, physically, and everything else is better than he has been at any point in his career. This has to make New York Giants fans feel better after the controversy that surrounded him skipping out on the OTAs at the start of the offseason. Despite not being on hand, Beckham said that he was training anyway and has six more weeks to get in peak physical shape.

While the New York Giants were working out during the OTAs, Odell Beckham Jr. remained at home in Los Angeles and worked out privately with his personal trainer. When Odell showed up at minicamp last week, the Giants said that they were very impressed with the shape that he showed up in. Beckham has been one of the top wide receivers in the NFL since entering the league, so Giants fans might be ready to see how much better he can be heading into the 2017 NFL season.

Working for a new contract

Odell Beckham Jr. wants a contract extension and actually made comments about it when it after the Pittsburgh Steelers gave Antonio Brown a new deal this offseason. The first time the Steelers gave Brown an extension was when he still had two years left in his rookie contract and Beckham wants the New York Giants to show that they want him as much as Pittsburgh wanted Brown.

Beckham is the only player in NFL history to have more than 90 receptions, 1,300 yards, and 10 touchdowns in each of the first three seasons of his NFL career. The New York Giants have a few options with their star receiver. They can give him the extension he wants now, they can wait until there is just one year remaining on his deal, or the Giants can franchise Odell after his contract ends, which could really push the relationship between Beckham and the Giants.

When it comes to Odell Beckham Jr., he said that you will just to wait and see how he performs this season. He said words only mean so much and you have to wait to see what happens – which might be as much a comment about the New York Giants as it is about his performance this upcoming season.
