The Nebraska football team is just 90+ days away from kicking off its season. The best way to tell that the season is drawing ever closer is that the start times for several of the games have been officially released. For now, there are just five games that have those start times set, but it’s a safe bet quite a few more of the games will have their start times set in the near future. For now, we still don’t know when the Huskers are going to kick off their season opener but we’ve got the times for the other two non-conference games as well as a couple Big Ten tilts.

The non-conference start times

So far, the Arkansas State game has not had its start time set, though it seems likely that game will be getting an 11:00 am kickoff time. What we do know is that the Cornhuskers will be playing at Oregon starting at 3:30pm CST. The game is going to be shown on Fox and will likely be a centerpiece of the network’s coverage that week. While the Ducks were just 4-8 a year ago, this is still a matchup that is going to get some attention. The fact that Oregon is expected to be quite a bit better, with a new head coach adds to the cache for college football fans.

The Cornhuskers third matchup and last non-conference tilt of the season also has a start time. Their game against Northern Illinois will kick off at 11 am CST and will be televised on FS1.

This is likely not going to sit well with every Husker fan, as this is a network that might not be offered everywhere. It’s interesting to note that two of the non-conference games are going to be on Fox properties.

Conference tilts

The first Big Ten game start that has been officially set comes one week after the Northern Illinois contest.

The September 23 game against Rutgers will be starting at 2:30 pm. The one thing that isn’t yet known is just what network the homecoming game will be shown on. There’s certainly a chance this might be a Big Ten Network game.

The following week will see Nebraska play its first Friday night game. The Cornhuskers are going to be traveling to Illinois and will be kicking off at 7pm CST on FS1 again.

This game is going to be one of those contests that will either make or break plans for more Friday night games in the Big Ten.

Finally, the Black Friday game for the Nebraska football game against Iowa has been set. The Huskers will host the Hawkeyes starting at 3 pm CST and this game will make yet another appearance on FS1. That seems to be the theme for the games that have gotten their start times.
