There are plenty of members of the WWE Universe who would love to see women's wrestling star Paige make her return to the ring. Unfortunately, it's not looking good on that front, as reports are coming in that the company will be done with her as soon as possible.

A recent report went so far as to say there's only one reason she's still under contract with WWE, and it's due to a business interest. Here are the latest WWE rumors about Paige's future in the professional wrestling company and beyond.

Paige's situation

The former NXT Women's Champion and Wwe Divas Champion has been on a long hiatus from the ring.

At first, she was out of action due to neck issues, which soon merged with several suspensions for WWE Wellness Policy violations.

That led to months of the former women's star on "Raw" being excluded from any sort of WWE programming. The suspensions are now over and done with, but Paige has been away from WWE, focused on recovery from said neck issues, as well as supporting her real-life boyfriend, former WWE star Alberto Del Rio.

In addition to all of that, she was a victim of the major celebrity cloud hacking scandal that hit over the past several months. Hackers reportedly obtained private and explicit photos and videos of Paige which ended up being leaked online. These include showing the women's wrestling star undressed, and in videos engaged in various sex acts with former WWE star/boyfriend Brad Maddox, as well as current WWE star Xavier Woods.

The biopic roadblock?

As Cageside Seats indicated in their report, the WWE would officially have cut ties with Paige if not for the biopic about her life that is under production. The film is part of a project being done by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's production company which has utilized WWE sets. There was even some footage recorded in front of a "Raw" crowd of a re-enacted match involving an actress portraying Paige.

With that going on, WWE has maintained their contract with Paige, although it seems her fiancee Alberto El Patron (Del Rio), has been sending some scathing messages towards Triple H and the WWE.

It seems that clearly he and Paige are looking for a way to cut ties with WWE as El Patron currently works for WWE's only real competitor, TNA Impact.

However, Paige can't appear on their show until WWE has released her in some capacity. They seem unlikely to do that until the movie is a done deal and gets the exposure it needs.

Whether or not any of these plans to get the movie promoted will involve the former women's star making a return to the ring is up for speculation. Still, there are probably plenty of WWE fans who wouldn't mind seeing her grace the squared circle again, rather than seeing her head off to Impact Wrestling as several other former women's stars have in the past.
