On Monday night, the latest episode of WWE "Raw" took place in Greenville, South Carolina, just days ahead of "Extreme Rules" 2017. That meant that the superstars who will battle inside the ring on Sunday were looking to gain momentum ahead of the pay-per-view. Most of the stars who will be in action at the PPV were part of the latest "Raw" episode -- including all five men who will compete in a Fatal 5-Way match on Sunday. Here's a look at how the latest match results and highlights played out on Monday night.
Latest match results
The opening match featured WWE Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose teaming up with the tag team champions, The Hardy Boyz.
They were victorious over the team of The Miz, Sheamus, and Cesaro. Matt hit Twist of Fate on Miz and then tagged in Jeff to hit a Swanton Bomb for the pinfall win. All of these superstars will compete in title matches on Sunday.
Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, and Bray Wyatt are three of the competitors in Sunday's Fatal 5-Way to determine Brock Lesnar's first challenger for the Universal title. In tonight's match, the three superstars brought their all to the ring. Balor eventually gained the momentum and knocked Joe out of the ring. He was able to gain the upper hand on Wyatt and hit Coup de Grace. However, Joe rushed into the ring and tossed Balor into the ring post to steal the pinfall win.
Recently, there were rumors of Sasha Banks getting a match at "Extreme Rules." It was announced earlier in the day that Sasha Banks will team up with Rich Swann to take on Alicia Fox and Noam Dar at Sunday's PPV.
During "Raw," Swann was victorious in a match over Dar via pinfall with Sasha and Fox at ringside. After the win, Sasha got into the ring to dance with Swann to celebrate.

Alexa Bliss had an in-ring segment to try to "expose" Bayley for not being extreme.
She showed off different dolls, stuffed animals, and memorabilia from Bayley's childhood, and had three guests in the ring: Bayley's grade school teacher, her best friend, and her ex-boyfriend. Eventually, Bayley came out as she'd had enough with Bliss' routine. The two got into a brawl and Bayley tried to climb the corner where the Kendo stick on a pole was set up.
Bliss dropped her and then grabbed a kendo stick she had hidden under the table to use on Bayley.
Titus O'Neil gained a victory over Kalisto by grabbing his tights to secure the pinfall. Also during "Raw," Austin Aries teamed with Jack Gallagher to take on WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville and TJP. Aries got the win for his team when he put the Rings of Saturn on Neville and made him tap out just days before their Submission Match at "Extreme Rules."
Big main event match
In the "Raw" main event it was Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins in a battle of two former Shield brothers. The two superstars put on an all-out battle inside the squared circle. The match involved plenty of big spots, including Rollins taking out Reigns on the outside with a suicide dive through the ropes.
Inside the ring, Rollins went for a springboard move from the apron which Reigns countered with the Superman Punch. It was action-packed from start to finish.

Toward the close, Seth Rollins missed on a Phoenix Splash for the win. The two traded several moves, with Rollins attempting a jumping knee strike that Reigns avoided. From there, Roman ran against the ropes and caught Rollins with a big spear takedown for the pinfall win. That gives Roman Reigns the momentum heading into Sunday's Fatal 5-Way at WWE's "Extreme Rules" PPV.
