Game 3 between the Boston Celtics and Washington Wizards featured multiple technical fouls and flagrant plays, most notably the scuffle that took occurred between Kelly Olynyk and Kelly Oubre Jr. After being elbowed to the head by Olyynk, Oubre took exception and viciously shoved him to the ground. Oubre was instantly ejected from the game and served a one-game suspension. Heading into Game 5 in Boston, Oubre expected to be booed by the fans, but he got a lot worse.
Oubre hears negative chants from Boston’s crowd
During the game, Boston fans began chanting a NSFW word at Oubre that echoed the TD Garden.

Celtics fans are very passionate about their team, and the atmosphere at TD Garden is usually intense and very lively.
“I mean that was definitely expected,” Oubre said about the chants. “I wasn’t really surprised with anything that I heard. Just the amount of people yelling my name, singling me out is crazy. But it’s definitely a blessing to be in this positon.”
“I still hear my name ringing in my head because that’s all I heard when I was on the court,” Oubre added.
There is a lot of hatred between the two teams
Battling in a seven-game series usually leads to plenty of hatred between the two opponents.
The Celtics and Wizards are at the level where they hate each other with a passion. The fans chanting all game long, the players bickering at each other, and the physical play is proof of that, not to mention everything else that happens off the court. Isaiah Thomas has also stated that the two teams don’t like each other.
In fact, even Marcin Gortat recently spoke about how Avery Bradley threated to beat him up.
“This hostility thing between these two teams looks a bit different, though. We play tougher, but we only care about our own team, while they want to provoke us,” Gortat said. “Avery Bradley approached me last game and said that if I set one more screen, he’s going to beat me up.
“I laughed at him. I advised him to come back when he grows up and gains some weight,” Gortat continued.
It’s silly, but the players are getting annoyed by each other due to the physicality of the series. However, it’s fantastic for the NBA to have two teams play with such hatred and anger. Its makes for great TV.
With the way things are going, this series has Game 7 written all over it. The Celtics seem to crush the Wizards on their home floor, while Washington seems to dominate Boston on its home court. Game 6 will be on Friday at 8 pm Eastern Time in Washington, televised on ESPN.
