With the 2017 NBA Playoffs coming soon, the Golden State warriors will try to continue their momentum towards being the top overall seed. Tonight they'll face a pesky Minnesota Timberwolves squad that managed to achieve a win over them in their previous encounter. While Golden State is still down their All-Star Kevin Durant, he's nearing his return, giving fans of the team excitement for the upcoming stretch. Can Minnesota defy the odds and win tonight's road game behind stars such as Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins?
Minnesota vs. Golden State matchup
Tonight's NBA game features a Warriors team that has won 11 games in a row and sits atop the Western Conference standings with just three games to go on their regular season schedule. The Warriors need a combination of three wins for their team and/or losses by the San Antonio Spurs to clinch the No. 1 overall seed in the West and the 2017 NBA playoffs in general. For those wondering, superstar Kevin Durant won't be suiting up tonight, or in the next game. Fans may not even see KD until the playoffs begin since the team may be exercising caution with their All-Star player.
The Timberwolves are currently 31-45 overall and have already been statistically eliminated from playoff contention and could be receiving a decent NBA Draft pick in June.
The team was able to pull off a win the last time they took on Golden State, 103-102 at home. Karl-Anthony Towns is currently leading the team with a double-double of 24.9 points and 12.1 rebounds, while point guard Ricky Rubio averages 9.1 assists to lead the team in that category. The Wolves are winners of three of their last four games, including their 110-109 win over Portland in their last game.
Minnesota will be a huge underdog on Tuesday night on the road, with a +14.5 point spread against them and a +1000 moneyline price. The Warriors are -2000 favorites on the moneyline to win at home, with the over/under point spread at 218.5 points for the game.
