On Wednesday, the 35-year-old highest paid female athlete around the world took to the social media application Snapchat and posted a photo in a yellow single piece swimsuit and captioned it "20 weeks", however, she later deleted the photo.
Her pregnancy news was later confirmed by the tennis player's representative in an email to the Associated Press which said: "I'm happy to confirm Serena is expecting a baby this Fall." Her spokesperson Kelly Bush Novak also confirmed that Williams would not be seen playing tennis this year but will return to the WTA circuit in 2018.
Both Williams and her fiance, Alexis Ohanian, were recently seen vacationing in Mexico. The tennis star quite recently posted a photograph of the couple post-Easter celebrations on her Instagram account which showed her fiance carrying Williams in his arms on a beach. She wrote "My only regret is not pointing my toe sorry coach Garry" as a caption for the photograph.
Her engagement with Alexis Ohanian
Last year in late December, Serena Williams announced her engagement to the Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian who is 33-years-old. She revealed her engagement by posting a poem on her Reddit account. She ended the poem as "Down on one knee, he said four words... And I said yes." The couple has not said anything about a wedding as yet however with a baby on the way one can expect wedding bells anytime soon.

The fact that Serena is already 20-weeks along her pregnancy means that the tennis superstar was already pregnant when she beat her sister Venus Williams earlier this year in January and won the Women's Singles Match at the Australian Open Championship. That was the 7th victory for Serena Williams in the Australian Open and her 23rd grand slam title.
Since playing in Australia in January this year Serena Williams, who became world number 1 for the first time on July 8, 2002, is yet to play for another grand slam title.
In the recent times, it is not new for top female tennis players to take some time out and start a family as former world number 1 Belarusian tennis star Victoria Azarenka became a mother in December last year.
Serena Williams has been actively playing tennis since the last two decades held her first world number 1 female tennis player spot for around six years. Williams is also credited with holding the all-time world record for winning the most singles matches at the Grand Slams (male or female).
