A magical bowling spell from Delhi Daredevils skipper Zaheer Khan went in vain, as the team lost to Kolkata Knight Riders by four wickets in an IPL match played on April 17, 2017, at the Feroz Shah Kotla. Zaheer Khan who picked two wickets in his four overs by conceding just 28 runs, tried his best to defend a total of 168, but Kolkata reached the winning score quite easily as their power hitters Yousuf Pathan (59), and Manish Pandey (69) put up a fourth wicket partnership of 110 runs. With this win, Kolkata Knight Riders are once again on the top of the IPL Points Table, while Delhi Daredevils is lagging behind Kings Xi Punjab in the sixth spot.

It was the explosive batting of Chris Lynn which helped Kolkata Knight Riders to begin their IPL campaign on a winning note. But Lynn who is now recovering from a groin injury was not included in the playing eleven, and it added up the opening worries of the side. At one point in time, the Kolkata scoreboard was 21 runs for the loss of three wickets, and from that point of time, Pathan and Pandey took charge which helped the visitors to mark a comfortable win.
Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant shines for Delhi Daredevils.
Earlier, Delhi Daredevils who batted first started their proceedings in lightning speed, as Sanju Samson (39) and Sam Billings (21) put up an opening wicket partnership of 53 runs. Sanju Samson was in full flow in the flat Feroz Shah Kotla pitch, and he even hit four boundaries in an over bowled by National player Umesh Yadav.
The young wicket-keeper batsman missed his half century in a very unfortunate manner, as he was dismissed by an out-swing delivery bowled by Yadav. It was Rishabh Pant who helped the Daredevils surpass the 160 run mark. The left-handed batsman scored 38 runs off 16 deliveries before getting out in a Coulter-Nile delivery.

Nathan Coulter-Nile was the pick of the lots among the Kolkata pace bowlers, as he picked three crucial wickets by conceding just 22 runs in his four-over spell.
Umesh Yadav was very expensive in this game, as he gave away 53 runs at an economy rate of 13.25 runs per over.
